It is nice to see that the USCG Academy is interested in the manual method in training in the manual methods of Navigation.
We should never permit the manual methods to perish.
Today the USCG employs a computer program in Maritime Search that is exceedingly advanced. It employs mathematical models of the atmosphere and oceanic current to solve the drift solution. Where did that search object drift to?
As I pound out this reply, I'm involved in developing a course that brings back the manual method of Maritime Search Planning.

    It will be taught.
