In my earlier result (RE : http://fer3.com/arc/m2.aspx/Group-Project-USCG-student-sample-problems-Rudzinski-apr-2013-g23582), I did not take in account the Index Error, which I now have. Aaccordingly at 19:00 the Observed fix is N 23°24'9 W 143°40'1, only 0.2 NM from earlier result since azimuths are almost evenly distributed. On the other hand the LOP's dispersion has improved from 3 NM as indicated earlier into 1 NM which is certainly better.

Using the same AP:
AP_Lat: N 24d 00.0'
AP_Lon: W 143d 40.0'
we agree on the azimuth of Polaris within 0.1. My intercept is -34.5' (i.e., away), which results in
Lat: N 23d 25.5' ( = AP_Lat plus the negative intercept, since the azimuth is essentially 000)
My second, specialized Polaris calculation gives the same latitude (and azimuth).
Using the same AP:
AP_Lat: N 24d 00.0'
AP_Lon: W 143d 40.0'

As regards your last Polaris request, and taking due account of Index Error, from assumed position N 24°00'0 W 143°40'0 I am getting Azimut 359.5° and Intercept -36'4 (i.e. Away). From observed position N 23°24'9 W 143°40'1 Azimuth remains unchanged at 359°5
