Byron: I see that gyro error has run it's way out and conditions
of fixing position and steeringn are fine. In the past I have seem the off gyro
for steering and positioning causing many expensive problems.
The better equipment of to day has solved many of the problems,
but, it should be that the salior should be in charge of the Ship/boat.
The extra miles traveled (correcting course steered)should be a thing of the past.
I understand that current sea's and weather will be present, but the ship/ boat
should not have compass error that adds to the distance traveled,
especially when traveling long distance. Use the Azimuth circle and Amplitude
in deep water for a check on heading and gyro system, but correct and change the gyro only by using bearings.Use the Franklin Pioting Techique to set the gyro.
Save youself distance and time.
