Ha! This reminds me of a 65 foot fast pilot boat, costing three quarters of a million dollars in 1979. Through vibration or some other cause, the throttle levers tended to back off slightly from the full ahead position. This was cured by the low tech expedient of tying them down with a short piece of string.
Just as the ships the boat was servicing had two full speeds ? sea speed and full manoeuvring speed, the boat also had two full speeds ? with string or without.
