    Re: Hansen's Improved Ex-Meridian Tables
    From: Greg Rudzinski
    Date: 2011 Jul 29, 08:58 -0700

    Practical Example for a twilight XM Antares observation at 20:24:15 (PDT) 28 July 2011 UT 03:24:15 29 July 2011 from a position of 34* 10.4' N 119* 13.8' W.

    Antares Dec. 26* 27.5' S LHA 350* 44.2' ( 9* 15.8') Ho 28*44.2' XMcorr. +38' (Hansen XM table)

    29*22.2' + 26*27.5' = 55*49.7' 90*- 55*49.7' = Lat. 34*10.3'

The Hansen's XM table has a declination range to 30* N & S not the 23* that I previously stated. This range will include the Moon , planets, and the majority of navigational stars.

    Greg Rudzinski

P.S. used a Navy MK 5 bubble sextant from my harbor slip for this observation.
