Impressive feast.....I wonder what kind of raft you keep on board after the ferry tank is installed on C-172 :)
Here is a pic of my Link A-12 bubble octant and my astro compass, both in pristine conditions. On the left is small drift computer for Pressure Pattern navigation (Bellamy drift computation), quite rare I might say, to find.
I never had the chance yet to use it in flight, I have to one day, it is very suitable for open cockpit as you look down into the sight rather than in line with horizon. It has a simple but smart "memory" for each sets of sights, just mark the degrees on the plastic drum, insert another one and then re-look at the data after setting the drums back on to the octant. The lighting rheostat for the bubble and the battery holder for lighting the vernier scale still work fine.
