    The exchange rate in 1812 was generally between $4.50 - $5.00 to 1£.
    Other invoices I have come across show $400 for a chronometer for the USS Argus, and $500 for the Chesapeake. Often there was a $10 - $12 fee for cleaning, adjusting, and rating.

    Several metal sextants were purchased by the naval agent for about $100 each.
