    Hlep on Digital Charts
    From: Olivier Le Diouris

    Hello List,
I have written some (open source, free) logging software, in Java, that
works pretty well for me (see links below).
I'd like to make them a bit richer, by using a chart in the background,
    that sometimes helps!

Does anyone know if there is any "official" or recommended standard for
this kind of data? If yes, is it documented somewhere?
What I mean is that, if I have access to nautical charts in this format,
will I find somewhere enough information to render those charts using my
own program, even if I have to write it?

I found some interesting info at http://pollux.nss.nima.mil/pubs/, but I
have not been able to find explanation about this format...
Any idea, hint, clue, link, etc, most welcome!

    Thank you all,
    - Olivier
