Thanks for Ken Gebhart's concern about our situation in Hong Kong. I hope this brief message does not disturb too much to members who does not have interest in Hong Kong situations. In fact the most significant changes after the handover of Hong Kong to China is on political side, as expected. As Hong Kong pepoles are often termed as "Politically Inert", majority of HK citizens are not affected by this changes. In day to day works, the differences are mainly on the names of various Govertment bodies and official titles. The Port control and shipping industry in Hong Kong does not received too many changes. The Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) Government has indepenant administrative authority over its ports. Also the Chinese Government had announced that HKSAR will continue to maintain its own shipping registry. The HKSAR government will continue to praticipate in International conferences with the title Hong Kong, China.
