Doug- Use a monospaced font, typically COURIER or TERMINAL. If possible, compose your message in a TEXT processor, not a word processor. And if you are composing it in a web client, set that to PLAIN TEXT rather than HTML format. Use spaces as needed, no tabs. As you are using a NetScape web client, you should find the main settings under Edit, Preferences, Formatting "Use the pain text editor". That's all it takes to properly compose, format, and keep plain ASCII text.
