I am getting quite confused with various astronomical measurements for polaris. According to wikipedia, polaris is:- 430 lightyears, 132 parsecs (seconds of parallax = 2.2minutes!) 2400 Astronomical units and has a Parallax () 7.56 0.48 mas Now as far as I can see, not all of these can be correct, but since several sources on the web quote the distance as 132 parsecs, or 132 seconds of wobble = 2.2minutes, I think this probably has a grain of truth in it. QED the position of Polaris will wobble by around a second of arc as the year progresses which is precisely what I said a few posts ago - and something which nobody seems prepared to admit (so clearly I must have got it wrong!) --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
