I think I have figured it out.
It appears I subtracted the Hourly Rate and Quadrennial correction from the 00 HOURS DEC. When these are subtracted from a negative number (for S declination), the negative number gets larger.
The correct values are obtained by subtracting the Hourly Rate and Quadrennial correction from a positive 00 HOURS DEC SUN, then treating this as a negative number if S declination.
I've attached a copy of the sight form I developed to use with the iPhone Sight Calc app.
