A n editorial comment in the latest issue of "Navigator's Newsletter"
tells me that one can search the online archives of the Journal of the
Institute of Navigation (which is, presumably, "Navigation") at-

http://www.ion.org/search/search_journals.cfm

That search will presumably provide titles and authors (and, I hope,
abstracts) of papers, but not full contents. The editorial goes on to
say that members can download copies of ION papers, even very early
ones, so from that it seems that the whole journal has been digitised
in some form.

It's of interest to me, as a non-member of ION, because there are
several articles in Navigation that I would like to read. However,
neither the Bodlieian Library in Oxford, nor (to my surprise) the
Caird Library at the Greenwich Museum takes that journal.

The Bodleian assures me, however, that if it is downloaded from their
own site they have certain codes which provide access to journals that
are otherwise private to members. I have not taken them up on that,
yet, but will soon.

Just to clarify, the above note refers to the Institute of Navigation
in the US, and its journal, "Navigation", and not to the
similarly-named Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) of London, and its
"Journal of Navigation".
