A friend in japan sent me a shot of a sunrise taken on a vodafone 802se 1.3-megapixel Camera. It plopped a black circle right atop the sun image, presumably as a protection against burning out the sensor. But seeing the image (attached), it made me wonder if this might not be a useful nat tool, esp for anyone doing archaeoastro alignments or the like.
I know none of my cameras generate this black spot, but does anyone else know how common this is? And of course I have no idea how accurately the black spot is placed, but have to believe that it is pretty darn good.
Besides, with this feature, who needs to chase eclipses anymore!
