    Introduction to Modern Astrometry
    From: John Pinto

This is a bit off-topic but maybe there are some here who have an interest in Astrometry.

I'm looking for a decent introduction to the modern science of Astrometry.  I'm especially interested in learning about the new ICRS/GCRS coordinate system and how to convert to/from the traditional coordinate systems like J2000.0.  Also how to convert an apparent position to an astrometric position in one of these new coordinate systems.

I've found something that I think will be at the right level for me called "Fundamentals of Astrometry" by Kovalesky and Seidelmann, published in 2004 and re-issued in 2012, ISBN: 9780521173315 (paperback).

Looking for anyone who might be familiar with the text and can give a quick review of it.  I'm basically interested in if it is well written as an introductory text to the field (I'm not looking for professional level material).  The Table of Contents appears to cover what I want to learn.
