Alex - still looking. Here are two possible references, but I have not seen
the text:
"Irradiation and Refraction at Low Altitudes and the Working Navigator" by
Captain SHufeldt, USNR, p 86-91, June 1954, Vol. 4, No 2
and
"Irradiation and Manual Navigation" by Haines and Allen, WInter 1968, Vol.
15, No.4, p355 to ~p371.
Both from the Journal of the Institute of Navigation. I misplaced my
password to the site, so I am unable to read the articles at this minute,
but have e-mailed requesting it. Still checking.
