A Google search of 'K2 on the Bounty' turned up an interesting hit on the 8th entry. It brought me right back to the NavList (sorry Frank, the 'the' seems necessary here) with an entry of 2004 May 19, 11:07 +0100
from none other than George Huxtable suppling some more info to Paul Hirose.
Did a NavList archive search for 'HMS Bounty chronometer' from 199601 to present and got 2 hits of 19 May 2004 between Paul Hirose and George Huxtable.
Did a NavList archive search for 'HMS Bounty' from 199601 to present and got 16 hits dated between 17 May 2004 (Doug Royer) and 06 Dec 2012 (Frank Reed).
Recommend all for background reading as there is good stuff in all of these postings.
BTW when I said in my original post of 19 Jul 2013:
"Sorry, but I couldn't find a shorter URL. Article is at:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2368234/Why-captain-Bounty-desperate-save-ships-chronometer-Timepiece-held-key-infamous-mutiny-British-naval-history.html"
I guess I didn't try hard enough to optimize the URL. A short-cut to the DailyMail article is:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2368234
I realize that this probably doesn't matter much as most people just cut and paste the URL. However in the off chance that you have to type it in, the second URL way is much shorter.
