Barry: The Sun will cross your meridian (Lan) at 20H 15m 12s GMT. Due to the uncertainty of the longitude it would be best to start looking about 5 minutes earlier. Your ZT of Lan would be: Zone Description (ZD) = DR-Lon / 15 ZT of LAN = ZD (+West Lon or -East Lon) ~ GMT I find doing my celestial navigating using GMT removes several steps of possible errors. So I would start looking for LAN about 5 minutes before 20 Hr 06m 12s GMT. >I'm trying to learn Celestial Nav on my own and I have a question >regarding LAN sights...I understand the concept, the math and the >conversion of ARC time.BUT for instance: > mer pass + DR-LON(W) = GMT of LAN > > 12h 06m + 8h 09m 12s = 20h 15m 12s > > > How does 20h 15m 12s help me in predicting LAN at my long....Is it >that simple that I just don't see it..???
