In visual navigation in close waters the triangle on the chart is more dangerious that most think. We are taught by book and school that we can use the center of the triangle and run our DR. from there, also we can use this center position for finding set and drift. Both of these can help leading to a grounding. A little chart work can support this. Any time, with accurate bearing and a little compass error with NAVAIDS within 180 of each other you will get a triangle with you outside of the center. A little chart work will support this. For a complete understanding of this, Bowditch after 1977 and for many year after that or read Franklin Piloting Technique. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
