Steve: Nope. And, for right-handed people, holding a sextant in the right hand is almost sure to be better because: 1. you need to keep it as steady as possible; this requires strength, particularly in a small vessel bouncing around at sea; 2. adjustments to the micrometer are very easy...don't require any strength at all, so can be done with left hand; and 3. most right-handed persons are "right-eyed", too, so holding a sextant in the right hand and bringing its optic to the right eye seems natural.
