    Greg/Frank:

Re current posts on Loran and GPS,it appears that all the eggs are in one basket, that being GPS. While that seems to work well, is reliance on a single system all that smart, is it necessary, are viable alternatives being ignored? I'm not any sort of boater, don't own one, get seasick in sail boats, not much fun there. My navigational exercises are limited to shooting from the beach, when we get down to North Carolina a couple of times a year, and playing with an artificial horizon in the parking area of the apartment complex we live at. Others actually use celestial navigation, even today, as well as relying on GPS technology. Is it realy wise to have put all the eggs in a single basket, as it appears that we have done? Might this decision possibly come back to haunt us, and what can be done to avoid the problems that such situation would likely bring?
