This seems to result in a far better resolution at the extrema of the tables (near equator/zero degrees declination that is): The MSD steps already at eight min of arc in contrast to 46 min of arc in Bennett's tables. I found also a reference to an edition of this tables with an additional 7th figure in steps of one tenth of minute of arc (printed on about 100 pages), but wasn't able to retrieve it so far. Sounds promising, Thomas. *) Cmdr Radler de Aquino, Brazilian Navy The "Newest" Navigation Altitude and Azimuth Tables 2nd stereotyped Edition J.D.Potter, London 1818 D.Norris, Rio de Janeiro Online-copy provided by the University of California, Astronomy Dept. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
