MP Venus PV Moon Fix Without Plot
    From: Greg Rudzinski
    Date: 2015 Nov 30, 14:28 -0800

It was a clear morning at the beach for taking sights of Venus on the meridian and the Moon on the prime vertical. Unfortunately the horizon looked fat and undulating through the 7x35mm scope so accuracy expectations were lowered. The Moon's upper limb showed well against a dark ocean. An Hp preset is calculated using the PV formula, height of eye, refraction, index correction, and parallax. The azimuth formula is used to derive LHA. See attached.

    Greg Rudzinski

P.S. No problem observing daytime Venus with a split horizon mirror and a 7x35mm scope.
