Yes, that's correct! I am trying to work through the navigation log kept by Nils Strindberg, which was found in the camp in 1930. I have access to photos of the pages taken a few years ago. They are very difficult to read in some places. In 1930 a thourough analysis of the navigation log was made and a map drawn of the expedition's track, during the balloon flight and during the ice walk. As far as I have been able to find out, only a popular article of the results have been published. Back then the log was much easier to read and I have been searching in vain for the photos of the log pages that were taken at that time.

On 14 July 1897 Andrée and his two companions were forced to go down with the ballon in the neighbourhood of 83N 30E. Then they walked southwards. On 19 and 22 August Strindberg took two sets of lunars to check his chronometers. On 19 September he took compass bearings of Kvitøya (White Island) together with a time sight of the sun. Knowing the magnetic variation and today's coordinates of the island (in 1930 the coordinates were inaccurately known), I will be able to find the chronometer error and rate.

Many thanks to Marcel and you for your assistance.
