I suppose that a small sheet or partial sheet of either of the plastics you mention could be obtained, cut into strips, the dimensions of which would depend on the dimensions of the mirror used, and epoxied or otherwise glued to the nderside of the mirror. Whether or not such a fabrication would actually float is or might prove an interesting question. Of course, steel hulls float, but they are shaped differently.
