The symposium on the history of navigation will take place at Greenwich on 6th-7th May. I know, already, the names of several Navlist members who plan to attend, and have contacted them. This message is for anyone else planning to be at that symposium. It's relevant only to those who expect to be in or around Greenwich on the Wednesday evening. If you think it might be worthwhile to meet up for a chat, and perhaps a meal, and don't have anything better to do, here's a suggestion. Joan and I, and Clive, expect to be at the Cutty Sark Tavern that evening, from about 7pm. We will try to find a quiet corner somewhere, or perhaps a table outside if the weather is clement. If anyone else would like to pop in, they would be most welcome. The Cutty Sark Tavern is on the riverside, but NOT near the Cutty Sark ship! From the ship, or from the museum, having found your way to the river, walk northeast down-river about half a mile or so (with the river to your left), along the riverside walkway, without being distracted by the Trafalgar Tavern on the way. Or so I'm told; I'm unfamiliar with the attractions of Greenwich. For those that haven't met me before, I look somewhat like Father Christmas (to the extent that Joan is always known, in our village shop, as "Mrs Christmas"). There's no need to respond to this note, but you can if you like.
