    Got nothing against calculators, or GPS for that matter, but like to know
    that if necessary can work out rhumb, traverse and a round of sights with
    nothing more than a pencil and some tables - call it Plan C   (to be
    fair, in that case would probably draw lines on the chart for rhumb and
    traverse - still the simplest way to get an accurate enough estimation).
