I should have said that much of the material I write is my knowlege and
opinion and not the Navy's. (disclainer) a few more, 602 was so quiet in the
water that we could hear our own people with the sonar, walking on say a torpedo or some surface that may a noise. We sometimes called a section of the sub and told them to stop. We could hear fish chipping and whales echo ranging off us,the closer they got the quicker the echo. There was no movment order or
information anywhere to find us. always a different direction or area If
something happen there would be no clue for search. We could get some message
while under, I was under when P Kennedy was shot, we got a message that he was dead and nothing surporting. Next thing we went to battle ship Missiles,
this was scary because you did,t know anything going on? It turned out a
drill. I understand anything I write could help the wrong people, but I
was in the game so long I know what to stay away from.
I was always on the bridge or control tower, not there for just watches so would know everything that has going on operational.
