Re: Moon corrections: how computation order affects the result

    David Iwancio,

Great explanation. I couldn't explain it better myself. In fact, I have tried, and I could not explain it better myself! About fifteen years ago, the late, great Stan Klein asked me to explain the calculations underlying the lunar altitude correction tables in the back of the Nautical Almanac. OK. No problem. I showed him two algorithms for it. And he noticed the same thing that Eric Fernandez discovered. I explained to Stan that it was because the augmentation was really a small variation in the parallax and since SD is directly proportional to HP, it all works out the same, but in the end I couldn't compose a "clean" explanation. Yours is excellent.
