    My homemade octant for reenactments....
    From: Greg B
    Date: 2013 Dec 23, 22:33 -0500

    Hi All,
My name is Greg and I used to post to this list about 5 years ago.
I do a lot of rev war reenacting and portray a surveyor. I also have
keen interest in celestial and built this octant to work into my talks
and demos about "science in the age of enlightenment" I have recently
retired from engineering and now have more 'puttering time' so I am
dusting off my celestial skills. I am also a sailor of a Catalina 28 - but
strictly coastal - pilotage navigation in the long island sound so I do
    a lot of
'back yard navigation' (i.e. practice on shore) I just purchased a Luna
sextant circa 1981 off of ebay - I'm hoping it's as good as the pictures
    look
I also have a Davis Mk 25 to do coastal 3 point fix s with. Any suggestions
or comments on any this would be most welcome.
    ~Greg
