Would you explain how you managed to get the reference surfaces (apparently the end wooden blocks shown here http://fer3.com/arc/imgx/AH-side-view.JPG) to be parallel to the horizon AND the bubble level tubes to then register that?

Stated a different way, if the bubble level tubes show perpendicular to vertical, how then do you know that the wooden feet transfer that reference to your mirror?

The 1/2 inch thick aluminu, plate gives heft and stability. The bolts are 40 threads per inch which makes adjusting smoother and easier. The knurled knobs are threaded on then soldered in place. Larger knobs also help smooth adjusting. The bolts are machined to a point to prevent wlaking when turned. The mirror is 1/4 of a 12 X 12 mirro tile. The first surface mirrors are only significant at low angles. The level I have previously described. After another round of calibrating the levels I shot 11 leisurely sun sights with the following results:
    (3 x scope) mean value for a = 0.345, median 0.4, mode 0.1, range 0.8.
