I heard mention of this change, NOAA quitting the printing of charts on Public Radio, guess it was yesterday. I know something of electronic charts, printed via one's computer, and I suppose that they work, within limits, for instance what is the maximum size sheet that the average individual's "home" printer will handle. The HP ink jet printer that I have is limited to 8.5 x 11" sheets, which might present a problem.

I guess that it's a case of the government doing less, the private sector picking up the slack, as some might describe it. Of course, re "change", I'm given to recall something attributed to the late P.O. Ackley, who offered the following. While change indicates movement, it's not necessairly movement in the direction of improvement.

In any event, the die seems to have been cast, and as of next year, April I believe, charts printed by the government will be no more, that is unless, once again, we experience change, which I personally doubt we shall see. Time marches on, though to where, who knows.
