Noell,
Paper charts will still be available.
According to what I have read the problem is that there was
a previous agreement between NOAA and the FAA and the
FAA presses were used to print the NOAA charts. FAA budget
problems require that they concentrate on printing their own
sectional chart products. Also private companies like Maptech
have also been printing NOAA charts for years. For me printing
a 36" X 40" chart from the pdf at FedEx/Kinkos will cost me more
than ordering it directly from one of NOAA's vendors. Also charts
printed by NOAA vendors meet USCG carriage requirements for
commercial shipping.
