I was way out where there was no light pollution in the Wehana Tucannon Wilderness (eastern Oregon).   I spent a number of evenings out from the 1st through the 5th, trying to do time-lapse photography of the stars.    I didn't know about this storm, but, alas, I didn't see any lights on the 4th, and on the 5th, it was overcast.   Conditions were quite good on the 4th - dry, and a great view of the stars.   No aurora, however.

I did see the 2003 show from Newton, Mass - it was fairly obvious - a lot of reds.

My favorite display was in August 1992, seen in Wisconsin - really something spectacular.
