The following message was recently sent to "rete" (mailing-list, primarily for curators and other denizens of science-inclined museums) and may be of interest to some NavList members. I have copied it across without asking for permission. I know nothing more about it than what's stated below. George. contact George Huxtable at george@huxtable.u-net.com or at +44 1865 820222 (from UK, 01865 820222) or at 1 Sandy Lane, Southmoor, Abingdon, Oxon OX13 5HX, UK. =============================== From: "Randall Brooks"The Canada Sci & Tech Museum recently published Setting Course: A History of Marine Navigation in Canada by one of our staff historians, Sharon Babaian. Although primarily focused on marine navigation in Canadian waters, the various types of navigational equipment discussed by Sharon were in use elsewhere. Those of you interested in marine navigation may find this work useful for comparison of related issues and technologies in American or European waters. The abstract may be found at: www.sciencetech.technomuses.ca/english/about/trans_series.cfm Setting Course: A History of Marine Navigation in Canada is #14 in the Museum's Transformation Series. A related work is Garth Wilson's History of Shipbuilding and Naval Architecture in Canada, 1995. (#4 in the Transformation Series).
