As you requested, here are the photos I took. IMGP2017 is an illustration from H.O. 216 of the Astro Compass. 2002 is a photo of mine. 2006 shows the polarozing camera filter with the rectangle of celophane balanced on top of the astro compass. 2005 shows the celophane on top of the filter. 2015 shows the dark rectangle. 2014 shows the light rectangle. 2012 shows the match point, equally dark filter and celophane rectangle. I will scan the pages of H.O. 216 on tuesday. I remember reading about the Bris sextant in Ocean Navigator magazine several years ago. Gary LaPook Marcel Tschudin wrote: Gary I'm one of those lurkers in this forum who never had a possibility to hold a sextant in his hands. My practical experiences are therefore equal to nil. I did admire the simplicity of the Bris sextant which was discussed some time ago in this forum. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to design something like a "Bris 2" by using this technique? As I mentioned before, I could imagine that your comments made here, possibly also the photos and the relevant pages from H.O. 216 might all be of interest to the authors of the paper. Why not sending it via the journal (or the newspaper) to their attention?
