    Frank,

That weekend looks good for me.

BTW, with the exception of the photo of you at the top, the photos on the ReedNavigation web site are pretty good.  Where did you get them
    ;-)?

    Stan

Subject: [NavList] Navigation Weekend at Mystic Seaport, June 4-6, 2010

In case any of you missed the earlier announcements, the Navigation Weekend Conference will be held again at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut June 4-6, 2010 starting at 1pm on Friday and ending around 3pm on Sunday. There are a few more places where you can read about the details. Here's the official blurb on Mystic Seaport's web site:
(please note the underscore between planetarium and cw in this URL). If you wish to pass along a web address for this event to media or others who may be interested, this is the best place to start.
You can also read about this on the official web site of the "Frank Reed School of Navigation" (an inside joke) at ReedNavigation.com here:
I will be posting more details regarding presentations in the weeks ahead.

PS: In addition to the conference in June, I would also like to mention here two classes which I will be teaching this Spring, in late March and early April. These will be weekend navigation classes designed for beginners and enthusiasts, too. One will provide instruction in "19th century methods in celestial navigation" (that means no H.O.229, no calculators, not even LOPs! it's all time sights and meridian Sun, and log tables, just like they did it throughout the nineteenth century and on into the middle of the 20th century). The other will be a class in "Latitude and Longitude by Noon Sun" designed for beginners especially and also those interested in a foolproof backup. The details on these are already on the site at Mystic Seaport, but I will have more details at ReedNavigation.com shortly.
