Greetings list,
I am looking for a wristwatch.
About 12 years ago, I purchased a Seiko Sports 150. It
was perfect. Had two time zones; analogue/digital, a stainless steel case and
back and was waterproof to 150 meters. In otherwords, it was the perfect watch
for the type of environment that an astro-navigator is likely to find himself
in.
About one month ago, the crown on my watch became
stripped. I sent it in for repairs and found out, much to my disgust that the
whole case (as opposed to the crown and barrel) would have to be replaced. Only
problem is, Seiko does not make that model anymore so there are no spare cases
available. Furthermore, try as I might, I have not been able to find a watch
that meets the standards of my reliable old Sports 150 (built in obsolescence
notwithstanding). This is yet another example of the old chestnut: "they don't
build things like they used to."
Is anyone out there aware of a wristwatch that meets
the above criteria and that would not cost me thousands of dollars to
purchase? I'm not in a big rush here. The watchmaker managed to get me
sorted out with a temporary fix but I figure that within a year or two, I'll be
out of business again.
Any suggestions welcome. Am I being too
picky???
Cheers,
Robert
