    ====================

    It was only the day before yesterday that I pointed out, in[NavList
    1435], on "Navigator's Newsletter and other forums"-

    "To reduce confusion, there's no such thing as the "British Journal of
    Navigation". It's "The Journal of Navigation", of the "Royal Institute
    of Navigation", to be distinguished from "Navigation", its American
    counterpart from the "Institute of Navigation". There is often
    confusion about these similar names."

    Anyone searching for "British Journal of Navigation" in a library
    catalogue may possibly succeed in being redirected to "The Journal of
    Navigation", but is more likely to go astray.

    As a matter of interest, anyone looking up the issue that Peter refers
    to will find some notes, in the "Forum" pages near the back, winding
    up a series of discussion papers about the "Cocked Hat". These refer
    to the 3 times out of 4 chance that a navigator will find himself
    outside a cocked hat, compared to the only 1 in 4 chance that he will
    be within it. Not that I wish to re-ignite that topic, but older hands
    in Nav-l, will recall, from a few years ago, the disbelief with which
    that notion was initially greeted, and its slow, grudging, acceptance.

    George.
