George, if list-participants were liable to expulsion for being ornery and cantankerous old buggers with an unfortunate fondness for intemperate expression then you and I, and quite a few others as well, would have disappeared long ago.
You know what they say about conspiracies: If presented with a choice between conspiracy and stuff-up go for the latter, each and every time..

On 10 Nov 2010, in a posting in the thread "Graphs of lunar distances",
Antoine commented, somewhat critically, on an earlier posting from Douglas
Denny, starting-
"Dear Douglas,
In further reference to your post [NavList # 14207]dtd 25 Oct 2010, with a
partial quotation given in the bottom of this post, I have observed -
exactly as Frank kept pointing out for your recent Lunars in both this
current "Luni-Solar Distance" thread as well as in the previous one "Graphs
of Lunar Distances" - that the quality of your own Lunar observations is
significantly better than your own feeling derived from your own
computation results. ...."
and so on.
No response to Antoine came from Douglas, nor has there been any since.
Up to 25 Oct, Douglas was actively contributing to three threads as
follows-
"(ADMIN) Linked files vs Attached files, and a scam" on 25/10
"Old question - need summary" on 25/10
"Graphs of Lunar Distances" on 26/10.
Some of that correspondence, involving Frank Reed, was then becoming
increasingly acrimonious (on both sides).
Since then, nothing has appeared on Navlist from the keyboard of Douglas
Denny. From subsequent off-list contact with him, he tells me that since
that date no postings from him, submitted to Navlist, have appeared.
Neither he, nor Navlist members, have been informed that his postings have
been deliberately blocked. No explanation has been given, if indeed they
have been blocked. No specific offence, against any Navlist code, has been
brought to his attention, or to ours. To Douglas, this seems to have been
rather expected, and he does not appear to be particularly surprised, or
perturbed. I take the matter somewhat more seriously than that, as
reflecting on the governance of Navlist.
On 28 /10, Frank Reed appears to have allowed himself the last word, in the
thread "Graphs of lunar distance", at a time when any further response from
Douglas had been blocked.
==================
Now, it's quite possible that there's a simple reason for all this, and
some form of misunderstanding has occurred. I hope that's the case.
But in my view Douglas, and Navlist members, are due for some sort of
explanation about exactly what has transpired. Whether postings from a
prolific member have been deliberately blocked, and if so, for what
specific offence.
Please note, that I do not necessarily approve of all Douglas Denny's
turns-of-phrase in his correspondence, which have not always been
well-chosen, in my view. The same applies to some postings from Frank Reed.
I look forward to a response from Frank.
George.
