OK, I give up. I looked at your figures and I do not get the same results.
Here are mine:
sin -16.735 = -.28795
sin 10.408 = .18066
cos -16.735 = -.95765
cos 10.408 = .98355
cos 72.7033 = .29732
Plugging those values into the formula I get cos d =-.33207, not .2280
Your end result is correct, mine is way off, so I can only assume that
your figures are correct. Any idea why both my calcs are so wrong? Maybe
it is the order of arithmetic precedence that I am using. Here is mine:
cos d = (-.28795*.18066)+(-.95765*.98355*.29732) = -.33207
-.28795*.18066+(-.95765)*.98355*.29732 gives the same result
