Back in 1968, a friend that I started sailing with set out on a west-about circumnavigation. His knowledge of celestial was limited to the Noon Sight. He did his DR using Mid-Latitude, plotting in 600 mile increments. I read his Log when he returned after 5 years. He had added morning and evening sun sights to his repertoire using H.O. 211. All his adventures took place while coastal cruising in various countries.
