Re: Noonsite using artificial horizon? Did I do it correctly?

    Sam,

    Artificial Horizon Sun Observations

    1. Measure total angle between Sun images.

    2. (a) +32' added to lower limb observation

(b)-32' subtracted from upper limb observation.

        (c) superimposed left as is.

Do not confuse upper and lower limb observations so why not do all three of the above.

    3. +/- index error (index correction)

Do not confuse on the arc (-) with off the arc (+).

For your LAN example: on the arc reads 4' (-4' correction) off the arc reads 56' (+4' correction)

    4. Divide by 2

    5. Subtract refraction to get Ho
