As an example of GMT and a map George was sort of looking for, here is the result of the command: 'pscoast -R290/360/30/60 -JM6i -P -B5g5 -Gblack > map.ps' which I ran on my Linux box (Ubuntu). This outputs a postscript file which I converted to pdf with 'ps2pdf map.ps' and is attached. Output formats, colour, pen widths, annotations, legends, scales, etc are all configurable so George could fiddle with this to get the exact output that he wants.
