We have a lottery syndicate where I earn my daily crust and each week I pitch in two pounds for my share of the weekly lottery tickets. I figured that each week, the chance of my numbers coming up are about the same as an extinction sized asteroid hitting the earth in my lifetime, with the consequent demise of the human race. I worry that in pitching in my two pounds each week, I am somehow tempting fate....
