Fred, I read about your work in the latest issue of Science News. I once worked with a man who'd been raised in a log cabin in West Virginia and had some memory of those magnificent chestnut trees. Caught my imagination. Several years ago, in England, I saw something that fit his description. Must have been seven or eight feet through, and tall as an old-growth fir. Not at all like a horse chestnut. Forget how many tons of nuts they said were harvested each year. Could it have been an American? I'd like to ask more questions, but this isn't navigation. Could you send your e-mail address? Bruce
