I can't answer Yves' question. However, I can suggest an alternative source
of information although, not being a practising ocean-crosser, I can't
vouch for it in use at sea.

This is "Ocean passages for the world", third edition, 1973. (NP 136)
Published by the Hydrographer of the Navy , Taunton, UK. I think that this
was the last edition to include sailing-vessel information.

It includes large fold-out charts in a separate slip-case. As well as
recommended routes for powered vessels there are charts for-
    World sailing ship routes.
World- Tracks followed by sailing and auxiliary powered vessels.
    World- General surface current distribution.
    World climatic chart- January.
    World climatic chart- July.

The volume should not be bought if those charts are missing.

The information was never intended for yachtsmen, and the routes are based
on the conditions that a 2000-ton merchant sailing vessel was expected to
    stand up to.

Presumably, much of the contents was based on the pioneering research of
Maury. There's likely to be a corresponding US publication.

I had to pay 30 for my copy, a couple of years ago. So not cheap, but
good. Provides a pleasant alternative to seagoing for armchair-bound
    mariners.

    George Huxtable.
