Hello, Jim and all, thank you for your review of the book of Mr.Ifland. You have requested some details about Sumner's life - maybe the following is known and tacitly left aside in your community and if so, I beg for pardon. But I have read rather sad information about Sumner's end of life many years ago: he died in the hospital for mentally ill persons and relatively young, isn'it? One can unfortunately visualize, what it implied about the last years and months of Sumner's life in the half of 19th century. Yes, celestial bodies are magnificent, but man is dust on the sea surface, although he is able to use and understand them. Jan Kalivoda
