Astounding... Even surreal. Personally, I can't fathom how ANYONE would take the expression "your mother wears army boots" as anything BUT a light-hearted joke. But then again, you're at least twice my age, I would guess. Maybe you remember an era when that pseudo-insult actually had teeth.
