Saw recently almost an almost exactly same looking Coutinho sextant on Ebay. Had been fabricated in Jan 1936 (this one is Feb 1936). Same scope, no artificial horizon. Same round box, although with a data plate (here missing). On both the lighting unit- including switch on handle - is missing. Seems this mod was done later on (by the same person?).
